A Level - Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Art and Design Online Taught Course
IMPORTANT:
If you seek a place at university you will typically need to attain 250 - 300 UCAS points. The A level can only earn you a maximum of 140 UCAS points (A* grade) and so you will need to study additional A levels in other subjects to acrue the necessary points. We therefore encourage students who intend to progress on to practical degrees at university, to study the Level 3 and Level 4 Foundation Diploma in Art and Design Taught Course as it carries the necessary UCAS points. The Foundation diploma course will get you into university!
Be aware also that a quarter of the A level course delivery centres on a written essay and this can leave candidates with lower writing skills at a disadvantage. The time lost to writing may impact also on the quality of the final portfolio. The quality of the portfolio is often a critical factor in securing a place at university.
Examination boards: AQA, Edexcel.
Duration of course: Two years
UCAS points: A* grade 140 points, A grade 120 points, B grade 100 points, C grade 80 points
Progression: Prepares students for university - you will need other A levels to enter university. If you do not wish to study other A levels alongside this one then do the Level 3 and Level 4 Foundation Diploma in Art and Design Taught Course.
Entry requirements: 1 x GCSE/IGCSE at grade A* - C in art and design or related discipline and a strong portfolio of work. Applications from mature students are welcomed - no formal qualifications required but will require a strong portfolio of work. The College takes into consideration alternative qualifications and relevant work experience.
Tutors: Fully qualified and experienced art and design teachers, CRB checked.

Course requirements
You will need to communicate with your tutor and fellow students and so a computer with broadband connection is essential. You will also need headphones and microphone for interactive virtual classroom sessions. A digital camera with USB lead or card reader will be necessary to send your tutor photographs of your creations.
Apart from the ICT requirements you will of course need art making materials. You don't have to spend a fortune as almost anything can be recycled into art so scout around.
