Virtual Arts Department for Schools (Online Course)

Course Introduction

Art and Music can be overly-subscribed subjects in schools, and it can be disappointing for students who are unable to pursue them for whatever reason. Fortunately, this is no longer an issue.

Now schools recognise the importance of the arts as part of a well-rounded education. However, budget constraints can often make it challenging to provide subjects beyond compulsory standards. This predicament has been expressed by many of the schools we collaborate with, and has resulted in many students seeking art education through our programmes.

How it works

All our courses feature scheduled live classes that are interactive, recorded, and available to access at any time. Since 2002, we have found that the proficiency of teaching and motivation of students count more towards the learning experience than whether students benefit more or less from recorded or live classes.

Our team of expert teachers will handle all teaching, marking, and feedback - providing a seamless virtual arts department solution. They will submit final portfolios to the examination boards online and fully prepare students for exams, which can be taken either at students’ schools, or a local examination centre. Meanwhile, learning support assistants will supervise students, ensure that all coursework is completed according to OCAD specifications, and submitted online for marking and feedback by OCAD. Our online arts department truly is the best solution for schools providing art lessons.

To participate, schools will need a room equipped with a computer connected to a screen – either an interactive whiteboard or a projector and a white screen/board. During live classes, learning support assistants can relay any questions from the class to the OCAD specialist teacher, and the group can see and hear the responses. OCAD teachers can also be contacted outside of lessons for any remaining queries.

Grades and feedback reports for all students can be viewed at any time – day or night!

Assessment

We conduct both formative and summative assessments, with final major projects assessed by an external exam board to determine your overall grade. We'll keep students informed of their progress throughout the course, through feedback and guidance on how to improve their work every step of the way.

Structure of the course

Getting started is as easy as sending us an email with a list of students and the online courses they wish to enrol in. Once we receive this information, we'll enrol them and provide you with their usernames and passwords to our learning portal – it's that simple!
