Level 2 Certificate in Art and Design (GCSE ART EQV)  - student work 2023 - Maria Adorjan

Maria completed her Level 2 Certificate in Art and Design June 2023. This exceptional portfolio is just a quick snapshot of the types of explorations and develops they made whilst on the course. The many plans, trials and samples are all additional to this, but this is what was chosen as part of her self exhibition and portfolio.

Level 2 in Art and Design teaches the main fundamentals and gives experience in a wide range of art fields. We start with some observational drawing, but this soon develops into the bigger aspects of project building; tasks such as portraiture, colour theory, still life, landscapes and sculpture are just some of the areas covered. Students get to explore them all but can also choose their themes, the media choices and the inspirational artists to research. It is common for students now to be interested in digital art, character design and other areas such as graphics and fashion. We let the students design their pathway as they evolve through the course.

As you can see with Maria, she is a strong fine artist who refined skills in drawing and painting. This qualification can now lead into college course, A Levels, or even our Online Foundation Diploma, which many of our students stay on to study.

So it’s an ideal exercise to learn painting techniques in oils.
